SUMMARY

Microsoft Small Business Server (SBS) 2000 is compatible with all the service packs and updates for the programs that are included with SBS 2000. For example, you can install the latest service pack for Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server on your SBS 2000-based server because Exchange 2000 Server is included with SBS 2000.

This article lists the products and service packs that are included with the different versions of SBS 2000. This article also includes links to the latest updates for each of the SBS 2000 programs.

The following products and service packs are included with SBS 2000:

  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Server Service Pack 1 (SP1)
  • Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2000
  • Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2000

If your server is running SBS 2000, it is a good idea to update the server with SBS 2000 Service Pack 1a (SP1a). This update includes service packs for the programs that are included with SBS 2000, and includes updates that are specific to the SBS 2000 components. The following products and service packs are included with SBS 2000 Service Pack 1 (SP1):

NOTE SBS 2000 SP1 is no longer available because SBS 2000 SP1a replaced it. However, if you are running SBS 2000 with SP1, you do not have to install SP1a.

  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Server Service Pack 3 (SP3)
  • Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server SP3
  • Microsoft ISA Server 2000 SP1
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2000 SP2

Be aware that the Web download for the SBS 2000 SP1 update does not include the service packs for ISA Server 2000 or SQL Server 2000. These updates are only included on the SBS 2000 SP1 CD-ROM. Therefore, if you install the original version of SBS 2000, and then you use the SP1 Web download to update the server, you may not be running the service packs for SQL and ISA that are listed in this article for SBS 2000 SP1.

The following products and service packs are included with SBS 2000 Service Pack 1a (SP1a):

  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Server SP4
  • Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server SP3
  • Microsoft ISA Server 2000 SP1
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2000 SP3a

Be aware that the Web download for the SBS 2000 SP1a update does not include the service packs for ISA Server 2000 or SQL Server 2000. These updates are only included on the SBS 2000 SP1a CD-ROM. Therefore, if you install the original version of SBS 2000, and then you use the SP1a Web download to update the server, you may not be running the service packs for SQL and ISA that are listed in this article for SBS 2000 SP1a.
