FIX: Timestamp Column Truncated When Replicating with Sybase Using Merant OLEDB Provider

SYMPTOMS

Heterogenous replication with Sybase using the Merant OLEDB provider for Sybase may truncate trailing zeros in the timestamp column or in a varbinary field.

CAUSE

The timestamp column is padded with trailing blanks by SQL Server. The OLEDB provider truncates any trailing blanks, which results in errors during replication.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for SQL Server 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in SQL Server 2000. This problem was first corrected in SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 1.
