Multilingual Menus and Dialog Boxes for Internet Explorer Are Not Restored After Uninstall

SYMPTOMS

After you uninstall Microsoft Internet Explorer or Multilingual Menus and Dialog Boxes for Internet Explorer, and all of the following conditions are true

  • You are running a MultiLanguage version of Microsoft Windows 2000.


-and-

  • You have the MultiLanguage User Interface (MUI) installed and configured to use MultiLanguage Menus and Dialogs for Internet Explorer.


-and-

  • A non-English language is selected.

some menus and dialog boxes may be displayed in English instead of in the non-English language that is selected.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because, when you install Internet Explorer or Multilingual Menus and Dialog Boxes for Internet Explorer, no backup is created for previously installed versions of Multilingual Menus and Dialog Boxes for Internet Explorer. As a result, the earlier versions of Multilingual Menus and Dialog Boxes for Internet Explorer are not restored when you uninstall Internet Explorer or Multilingual Menus and Dialog Boxes for Internet Explorer.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, reinstall the appropriate version of Multilingual Menus and Dialog Boxes for the version of Internet Explorer that you are currently running. To do this, browse to the following Microsoft Web site:

NOTE: You must install the correct version of Multilingual Menus and Dialog Boxes for your version of Internet Explorer.

NOTE: You must have the Windows 2000 MUI installed to run Multilingual Menus and Dialog Boxes for Internet Explorer. MUI is available only in the Multilingual version of Windows 2000.
