SYMPTOMS

When you install McAfee VirusScan version 5.12 in a user account, a VirusScan icon appears in the Control Panel, on the Start menu, and on the Desktop. If you switch to a different user account on the same computer, the McAfee program appears not to be installed because the VirusScan icons are missing.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
