Existing X12 Schemas Fail Validation After You Install BizTalk Server 2000 Service Pack 1 (SP1)

SYMPTOMS

After you install BizTalk Server 2000 Service Pack 1 (SP1), X12 documents fail validation.

CAUSE

The custom time data type was changed from time to string to provide support for the HHMMSSss and HHMMSSDD formats for various X12 documents. X12 schemas that were created prior to BizTalk Server 2000 SP1 that use the old custom time data-type fall validation after you install SP1.

RESOLUTION

Modify the X12 schema and instance data to use string data.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft BizTalk Server 2000 Service Pack 1.
