SYMPTOMS
When you create maps that involve Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) as a target, an element may be generated with blank attributes.
CAUSE
This problem occurs because the attributes of the element (fields of the segment, in EDI terminology) are conditionally generated. The map generates XSL Transformations (XSLT), which creates the element with no regard for whether or not conditions that are applied to the member attributes will be fulfilled.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft BizTalk Server 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in BizTalk Server 2000 Service Pack 1.
