SYMPTOMS
When the Office File Optimizer prompts you to optimize the files used by Microsoft Office, and you allow the program to run, your computer may stop responding (hang).
CAUSE
This behavior can occur when you have McAfee VirusScan version 4.5 installed on your computer.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, use one of the following methods.
Method 1: Disable McAfee VirusScan While Office File Optimizer Runs
Consult your McAfee VirusScan documentation for more information about how to temporarily turn off the program. After the Office File Optimizer is finished running, turn on VirusScan again.
