SYMPTOMS
An exception in Ipnat occurs if an ICMP packet is received over a PPP connection. This occurs only on devices with RICS processors that include the Ipnat component.
CAUSE
The problem occurs because IPNAT dereferences a USHORT pointer directly from the ICMP header. For PPP connections, IP headers are not aligned (because of PPP framing), so this occurs only on PPP links.
RESOLUTION
A supported software update is now available from Microsoft as Windows CE 3.0 Core OS QFE 17. To resolve this problem immediately, click the following article number for information about obtaining Windows CE Platform Builder and core operating system software updates:
