SYMPTOMS
Invalid or NULL data displays after you change the slice value of a partition associated with a cube, which contains virtual dimensions, that has had aggregations designed.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs when the slice value stored in meta data differs from the slice value for the partition.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for the Microsoft SQL Server 2000 (the Analysis Services Components - Sql2kasp1.exe). For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services version 8.0. This problem was first corrected in the Analysis Services Components of Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 1.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior
- Open Analysis Manager.
- Expand the FoodMart 2000 sample.
- Navigate to and expand the Warehouse cube, and then expand the Partitions leaf. Navigate to the Warehouse 98 partition.
- Edit the Warehouse 98 partition, and change the data slice from [Time].[1998] to [Time].[1998].[Q2]
- Browse the Warehouse cube, and browse for [Time].[1998].
- Browse for [Time].[1998].[Q1], and note that no data displays for the first quarter of 1998.
- Browse for [Time].[1998].[Q2], and note that data for the second quarter of 1998 displays.
