SYMPTOMS

When you select the Import all log files since last import option in the Import Web Server Logs dialog box, data that has already been imported may be imported again. This problem only occurs when you import log files from multiple Internet Information Services (IIS) 5.0 Web sites. To verify this, click View Log Files in the Import Web Server Logs dialog box.

CAUSE

To monitor the most recently imported Web log file, the Commerce Server Data Transformation Services (DTS) component uses the SiteSummary table from the corresponding Data Warehouse to store the DateTime value. When there are multiple log files from different Web sites, this mechanism fails. Therefore, all log files since the last "single Web site" log file import are imported. If your first Web log file import used multiple log files from different Web sites, you may see "1/1/1971" as the EndTime value.

WORKAROUND

Use the following code to create an environment variable that activates an alternative code path:

set USERBTREEFORMULTISOURCEHITS = 1

NOTE: You must restart the Microsoft Management Console (MMC).

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Commerce Server 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
