This article discusses how to insert a MultiMedia Flash movie file into a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation.

It is possible to insert a MultiMedia Flash movie into a Microsoft PowerPoint 2001 for Mac presentation. However, if you open this presentation in Microsoft PowerPoint 98 Macintosh Edition, the movie does not play, and you may receive an error message.

After you install QuickTime and the MacroMedia plug-in, follow these steps to insert a Flash Movie into a PowerPoint 2001 presentation:

  1. In PowerPoint, point to Movies and Sounds on the Insert menu, and then click Movie from File.
  2. In the file selection dialog box, locate and select the Flash movie that you want, and then click Insert.

NOTE: Flash movies work differently on a Macintosh versus a Windows-based computer. If you insert a Flash movie into a presentation, it will not work on both types of computer. If you transfer the presentation between Macintosh and Windows-based computers, you must reinsert the Flash movie on the other computer.
