SUMMARY

This article describes the Microsoft Activation Wizard Privacy Policy for Microsoft Office Visio.

MORE INFORMATION

Microsoft asks that you activate your product so that we can verify that your installation is done with a genuine Microsoft product. When you activate your product, no personal information is sent to Microsoft; you can activate your product anonymously. The only information you are required to provide is your country/region.

During activation, the Microsoft Visio Activation Wizard creates a unique hardware identification that represents the configuration of your computer at the time of activation. The hardware identification does not include any personal information, any information about software or data that may reside on your computer, or any information about the specific make or model of your computer. The hardware identification identifies only the computer and only for the sole purpose of activation. The Microsoft Activation Wizard can detect and tolerate changes to your computer configuration. Minor upgrades will not require re-activation, but if you completely overhaul your computer, you may be required to activate again.

During activation you can provide your name and other contact information if you want to register your product with Microsoft. If you choose to register your product, the information that you provide will be securely stored by Microsoft and will be protected from disclosure to third parties without your consent.

If you choose to register, you will have the opportunity to decide whether you want to receive special offers. If you select the Receive offers from Microsoft option during activation, Microsoft sends you information about Microsoft products and services. If you do not want to receive this information, do not select the Receive offers from Microsoft option.

If you select the Receive offers from Microsoft option during activation, Microsoft carefully selects other companies to send you information. If you do not want us to do this, do not select Receive offers from Microsoft option.

To ensure that the information you provide to Microsoft through the Activation Wizard is correct, you can review and update this information by contacting Microsoft at any time. You can use the Activation Wizard to do this on the Internet or by telephone. If these options are not available to you, you can update or change any information you provided by sending your Product ID (which you can find by clicking About on the Help menu) and any changes you would like to make to the address below. We will update your information to reflect any corrections or changes you want. It is important that you include your Product ID so that we can accurately identify your activation record.

If you believe that Microsoft has not adhered to these privacy principles, please notify us by postal mail at the following address:

Microsoft
Attn: Microsoft Product Activation
One Microsoft Way
Redmond, Washington 98052-6399

Microsoft will use commercially reasonable efforts to promptly determine and correct the problem.
