XL2002: Cell References and Text Are Added to Cell When You Use Text To Speech Tool

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Text To Speech tool in Microsoft Excel to read aloud the content of cells, the contents of one of the cells may be unexpectedly changed to include cell references and additional text.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur when you use the Speech Recognition Dictation tool while you use the Text To Speech tool. Specifically, both the dictated text and the cell references from the selected cells are added to one of the selected cells when both of these tools are running simultaneously.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, turn off the microphone when you use the Text To Speech tool.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
