SYMPTOMS
When you attempt to use the /j switch with the Windows Installer package for the System Files Update (Osp.msi), you receive the following error message
where Microsoft Office XP edition
is the edition of Office that you are using; for example, Microsoft Office XP Professional with FrontPage.
CAUSE
The System Files Update does not support advertisement by using the /j switch, or any combination by using the /j switch. For example, /jm or /ju also generates this error message.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, install the System Files Update without using the /j switch. You can install the System Files Update when you run the Setup program for Office, or you can install the System Files Update directly by using the Osp.msi file.

MORE INFORMATION
If you want to use the /j switch (including either /jm or /ju) for the Office installation that occurs separately from the System Files Update installation, you can specify the /j switch on the command line with Setup.exe. For example, use a command line similar to the following
path
\Setup.exe /jm
where path
is the full path to the root of your Office installation source location. In this scenario, the System Files Update installation occurs, and then after your computer restarts, the Office installation automatically starts and uses the /j switch.
