ERROR SIGNATURE
This article describes shut down problem that can have the following error signatures:

SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Word 2002, when you press an ARROW key while your insertion point is in the Caption box in the Insert Caption dialog box, you receive the following error message and Word 2002 may stop responding (hang).
Note When you view the data in the error report, the report contains an error signature that is similar to the error signature that is listed at the begining of this article.
CAUSE
This problem occurs when you follow these steps:
- On the Insert menu, point to Reference, and then click Caption.
- Open the Label list, and then click any item.
- Put the insertion point in the Caption box.
- Press an ARROW key three or more times.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, do not press an ARROW key while the insertion point is in the Caption box.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
