SYMPTOMS

When you use the Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer to show a presentation that contains animated GIF (Graphics Interchange Format) images, the images do not appear animated.

CAUSE

The PowerPoint Viewer is restricted to the capabilities of PowerPoint 97. PowerPoint 97 does not have the capability to play back animated GIF images that you have inserted into a presentation.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, save the presentation as an interactive and animated Web-based presentation. Then, place this presentation on either a CD-ROM or other removable media and view it with Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 or later.
