SYMPTOMS
If you log on to a computer as a guest and then change the memory protection for a service, the service may not work correctly and the computer may eventually stop responding (hang).
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because the memory manager does not make sure that the new protection is compatible with the existing protection before allowing the new protection to be applied.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
