SYMPTOMS

Calling the VarDateFromStr function may cause an access violation in Oleaut32.dll when you pass certain values in certain formats.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because a member variable is overrun and corrupts the member variable immediately following it. The access violation occurs when the corrupted member is dereferenced.

RESOLUTION

Windows 2000

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
