SYMPTOMS
A security group policy template may become empty or corrupted.
CAUSE
The security policy is stored in one file in Sysvol. Any policy change that is made on the computer is filtered into the group policy file. One policy change could result in multiple write operations into the file; the multiple write operation are not transactioned. If any of the write operations do not succeed, the group policy template may become empty or corrupted.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
