SYMPTOMS
During the installation of the Palm Mail conduit that is included with your Palm device, you are asked whether you want to configure your mail settings now. If you have no existing profiles and you click Yes, you receive an error message similar to the following:
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because the Palm software cannot create a new profile in Outlook 2002.
WORKAROUND
To work around this behavior, manually create a profile in Outlook:
- Start Outlook 2002, and then click the Tools menu.
- Click Email Accounts, click Add a new e-mail account, and then click Next.
- Click a type of account, and then click Next.
- In the E-mail Accounts dialog box, complete the User Information, Server Information, and Logon Information sections, and then click Next.
- Click Finish.
