OL2002: Media Player Error Message When You Try to Save and Close an Appointment

SYMPTOMS

When you schedule an online meeting by using Microsoft Windows Media Services, you may receive the following Windows Media Player error message when you try to save and close the appointment:

Microsoft Outlook.
Media Player is required to view this media file. To install Media Player rerun Office Setup.

The Windows Media Player is not part of Microsoft Office XP Setup, and this makes the error message misleading.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, download the latest version of Windows Media Player available for your version of Microsoft Windows from the following Microsoft Windows Media Technologies Web site:

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

In the same environment setting as described in the "Symptoms" section of this article, if you click the View Windows Media button on the toolbar, you will receive the error message two times in a row, one time with a Bubble Icon, and one time with the Exclamation Triangle icon.
