SYMPTOMS

When the unlock operation in the file lock package of the file system is initialized, unpredictable results may occur.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because an uninitialized variable exists in the kernel.

RESOLUTION

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Windows 2000.
