SYMPTOMS

When you use Performance Monitor, you may see a drop in Available Memory and a rise in Pool Nonpaged Bytes.

CAUSE

This issue can occur when a put call is in an infinite loop. A memory leak occurs in CPropertyCache::putproperty for the variable pvArray. This memory leak occurs with every use of an ADSTYPE DNwithBin or DNwithString or LargeInteger that has an IDispatch pointer encapsulated in a variant.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Windows 2000.

This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 2.
