XADM: Rank Value Overwritten When Doing a Deep Traversal in Exchange 2000

SYMPTOMS

When a deep traversal search is performed on a folder, the rank value of all of the items that are returned is 1,000.

CAUSE

During a deep traversal, a search folder is populated with all of the items that match the search criteria. The rank value that is associated is returned by content indexing. At this point, Distributed Authoring Version (DAV) requests an unrestricted view of the search folder, which causes the rank values to be overwritten.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server Service Pack 1.
