SYMPTOMS

Incremental crawls on a large database (for example, a database that contains five million documents) may take an unusually long time (for example, one and a half hours) to "initialize" (add documents) before actually accessing the Exchange 2000 database. Initialization should take a few minutes instead of a few hours. This problem may occur if an earlier crawl was stopped.

RESOLUTION

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server.
