When you type characters that are not part of your default Apple Macintosh Operating System (Mac OS) in certain Outlook 2001 for Mac fields, the characters may not appear as you typed them.

The Mac OS has the ability to switch keyboard layouts to accommodate additional languages. For example, if you are running the US English-language version of the Mac OS and you use the installed language kits, you can change your keyboard layout to display characters utilized by that language.
Outlook 2001 for Mac correctly displays text written by using a non-system language in the Body, Subject, and other fields that are provided by Outlook 2001 for Mac. Some fields, such as the Folder name and the signature name fields, do not display non-system characters properly.
Additionally, messages that you receive that have a set of characters from your version of Outlook 2001 for Mac and operating system support may not appear correctly. Text in the body of the message may display the correct characters, but the text in the Subject and other fields may not display the correct characters.
If you want to have all fields respond to a specific language character set, you must install the language version of the Mac OS, and the specific Outlook 2001 for Mac version for the language that you want to view.
