CAUSE
This problem can occur when you attempt to print a crosstab report that has more than approximately 4,094 rows (where a "row" can consist of either a task, a resource, or an assignment).
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Project 2000, Service Release 1 (SR-1).
To obtain SR-1, click the article number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

To temporarily work around this problem, simplify the report to reduce the number of rows that are to be printed. Suggested ways to simplify the report are described in Example 1 and Example 2.
Example 1: Remove Assignment Rows from the Report
For example, when you print the Resource Usage crosstab report, do not include task assignments in the report. To exclude task assignments from the Resource Usage report, follow these steps:
- On the View menu, click Reports.
- Click Workload, and then click Select.
- Click Resource Usage, and then click Edit.
- On the Definition tab, click to clear the And task assignments check box, and then click OK.
Example 2: Filter the Report to Print a Smaller Range of Tasks or Resources
For example, when you print the Task Usage crosstab report, use the Task Range filter to print a range of task numbers. To do this, follow these steps:
- On the View menu, click Reports.
- Click Workload, and then click Select.
- Click Task Usage, and then click Edit.
- On the Definition tab, select Task Range in the Filter list, and then click OK.
- In the Workload Reports dialog box, click Select.
- In the Task Range dialog box, type the first task number and the last task number for the range of tasks that you want to include. Click Select.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Project 2000, Service Release 1 (SR-1).
