SYMPTOMS
When you try to shut down a computer that has been upgraded to Windows 2000 Professional from an operating system that once had Prassi CD Right Plus! version 1.5 installed, the computer may stop (hang) at a solid-color screen, and it does not turn off. You must turn it off manually by pressing the power button. There is no screen stating that it is now safe to turn off the computer.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur because the Ptaspi.sys driver file that is installed with Prassi CD Right Plus! version 1.5 remains active after the program is removed, and it is not compatible with the power management in Windows 2000.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this behavior, make sure that the Prassi CD Right PLUS! version 1.5 has in fact been removed, and then manually rename the driver Ptaspi.sys to Ptaspi.old. The Ptaspi.sys file is located in the Winnt\System32\Drivers folder.
