SYMPTOMS

When you drag a bullet point from one slide to another using the Outline pane, and the bullet point that you drag is the first bullet in the second column of a Title and 2-Column Text layout, the position of the remaining bullets on that slide may be changed. All of the remaining bullets in the second column may be moved to the first column.

The second column then displays the default placeholder, Click to add text.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, use the Cut and Paste commands on the Edit menu instead of dragging the bullet point by using the Outline pane. This is necessary only when you move the first bullet in the second column of a Title and 2-Column Text layout.

  1. Highlight the entire contents of the bullet point that you want to move.
  2. On the Edit menu, click Cut.
  3. Browse to the slide that you want to move the bullet point to.
  4. Insert your cursor where you want the bullet point to appear.
  5. On the Edit menu, click Paste.

NOTE: During these steps, it is possible to insert extra, unwanted bullets. To delete a bullet, insert your cursor to the immediate right of a bullet, and then press the DELETE key.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
