SYMPTOMS

If you print Microsoft PowerPoint slides that contain text shadows, the shadows are printed in front of the text instead of behind the text as expected.

CAUSE

This behavior is known to occur when you print to one of the following printers:

  • Hewlett-Packard (HP) LaserJet 4 Plus
  • HP LaserJet 4Si
  • HP LaserJet 5M
  • HP Color LaserJet 5M


WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, print TrueType fonts as graphics. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. In the Options dialog box, click the Print tab.
  3. Click to select the Print TrueType fonts as graphics check box, and then click OK.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
