SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to use spot colors to format the background of your publication, the More colors option is unavailable, and you are unable to select any colors other than the default.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, make sure that you have your spot colors selected in the Color Printing dialog box, and then use the More backgrounds link on the Backgrounds task pane.

To do this, follow these steps:

  1. On the Tools menu, point to Commercial Printing Tools, and then click Color Printing.
  2. In the Color Printing dialog box, click Spot color(s), and then click Add. Select a spot color from either the Standard or the Custom tabs, and then click OK.
  3. Repeat step 2 until you have selected all of the spot colors that you want, and then click OK.
  4. In the Background task pane, click More backgrounds.
  5. In the Fill Effects dialog box, click Tint, and then click the Base color box to select one of the spot colors that you previously added.

These spot colors are also available on other tabs in the Fill Effects dialog box.
