SYMPTOMS
The speech recognition feature may appear to be turned on in Microsoft Word, but it does not function when NetMeeting is running.
CAUSE
The sound card is not a sharable resource. If the Enable full-duplex audio so I can speak while receiving audio option is selected in NetMeeting, speech recognition cannot function in Microsoft Word until NetMeeting releases the sound card.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem when you are using NetMeeting, clear the Enable full-duplex audio so I can speak while receiving audio option. To do this, follow these steps:
- Click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, point to Communications, and then click NetMeeting.
- On the Tools menu, click Options.
- On the Security tab, click to clear the Enable full-duplex audio so I can speak while receiving audio check box, and then click OK.
MORE INFORMATION
Programs that use the sound card but do not lock it may allow speech recognition to function, but may affect it or cause errors. For additional information, click the article numbers below to view the articles in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
