SYMPTOMS
You add more than 255 characters to the ToolTip text of a control on the Control toolbox, and Outlook subsequently stops responding (crashes). This happens if you use the Control toolbox in Outlook Visual Basic for Applications, but does not occur if you use the Control toolbox when you are designing an Outlook custom form.
WORKAROUND
Do not enter more than 255 characters as ToolTip text.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

This problem did not occur in Microsoft Outlook 2000.
Steps to Reproduce the Problem
- Open the Outloook Visual Basic Editor.
- On the Insert menu, click UserForm.
- On the View menu, click Toolbox.
- Right-click the CommandButton control, and then click Customize CommandButton.
- In the Tool Tip Text field, enter more than 255 characters, and then click OK.
- Right-click the same control.
