SYMPTOMS

When you receive a message that is in a Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) format, some tables and other features may appear malformed or not as you expect.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because the Microsoft Outlook client for the (Apple) Macintosh does not support HTML and downloads a Microsoft Outlook Rich Text format version of the message from the Microsoft Exchange Server. This Outlook Rich Text format version of the message is created by the Exchange Server and is downloaded if the Outlook client is unable to display the original message in its original format.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, use a mail client that supports HTML, such as Outlook Express for Macintosh or Microsoft Entourage for Macintosh. You must set the Exchange Server to use either Post Office Protocol 3/Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (POP3/SMTP) or Internet Mail Access Protocol (IMAP) mail protocols.
