SYMPTOMS
When you are setting up user-based security and attempting to obtain a list of users and groups from a Microsoft Windows 2000-based domain controller, any of the following symptoms may occur:
- You may receive the following error message:
- The list of users and groups may be displayed, but it may be incomplete.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because the Windows 2000-based server returns incomplete information about the number of user and group accounts.
RESOLUTION
A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.

To resolve the second symptom, you must use the fix that is described in this article.
The code assumes that the user and group counts that are returned by the server are accurate. Because Windows 2000 returns only approximate counts, the code has been modified not to make this assumption.
