Article Last Modified on 9/27/2006

APPLIES TO

This article was previously published under Q281391

SYMPTOMS

The Office Assistant does not respond to a voice command to save the changes to your Word document.

For example, when you close a document in which you have made changes, the Save prompt will come up in the Office Assistant balloon. When you attempt to use the speech Voice Command feature to say "Yes" to save the changes to your Word document, the document is not saved and the Office Assistant does not respond.

CAUSE

Speech is not designed to allow complete "hands-free" control of your applications. In this instance, the Office Assistant balloon has the focus. The Office Assistant is not voice-enabled.

WORKAROUND

Select Save in the Office Assistant balloon using either your mouse or your keyboard.
