SYMPTOMS
When two different IEEE 1394 devices are plugged into a computer with an 866-MHz or faster processor, and at least three IEEE 1394 ports, one of the IEEE 1394 devices may not be recognized. This problem can occur when an IEEE 1394 hard disk (acting as a repeater) and an IEEE 1394 DV camera were connected.
CAUSE
This behavior is a result of the 1394 driver incorrectly handling device time-outs.
RESOLUTION

STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 3.
