SYMPTOMS

In SQL Server 7.0, there is no option available to save a Data Transformation Services (DTS) package using the SQL Server 2000 encryption format.

MORE INFORMATION

This feature has been added in SQL Server 7.0 Service Pack 3 as a design change.

In the Save As dialog box for a DTS package, a new check box has been added to enable a SQL Server 7.0 DTS package to be saved using SQL Server 2000 Encryption. This feature is available only if the package is stored in SQL Server or as a file.

This has been done to take advantage of the enhanced encryption features of SQL Server 2000. It also provides users with an easier way to maintain DTS packages in the same format, if they have a combination of SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 7.0 packages.
