SYMPTOMS
When you view the Application Error Reporting log in Microsoft System Information after an Office program stops responding (hangs or crashes), the date of the incident is not displayed as expected. This behavior occurs when you use Microsoft Office XP on a Microsoft Windows 98-based computer or on a Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me)-based computer.
CAUSE
In Windows 98 or Windows Me, information about programs that stop responding is stored in the dw.log file. There is no date or time information included in this log file.
When you select Office Event/Application Fault in Microsoft System Information (System Summary in Windows Me), the information from dw.log is displayed in the Current System Information pane. Because no date information is contained in dw.log, the Date item contains a Value of "Not Available."
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
