SYMPTOMS
When you try to upgrade a Dell PowerEdge server from Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Server to Windows 2000 Server, you may receive the following error message:
The following items are not compatible with Windows 2000. Setup cannot continue. Resolve the compatibility issue with each item before running Setup again.
For more information about an item, select it, and then click Details.
Dell PERC2 Raid Controller.
After you receive the error message, Windows 2000 Setup halts. Also, the upgrade report in the Compat.txt file may include the following entry:
Dell PERC2 RAID Controller

The currently installed driver for the the Dell PERC2 series RAID Controller is not compatible with Microsoft Windows 2000. You must remove this device or update the driver with one that is compatible with Windows 2000 before Windows 2000 Setup can continue.

CAUSE
The Windows NT 4.0 driver that is installed by the Dell OpenManage Server Assistant CD-ROM for the PERC controller is not compatible with Windows 2000.
RESOLUTION
