SYMPTOMS
When you try to remotely share a folder by using the Shared Folders snap-in, you may be unable to share a remote computer's folder, and you may receive the following error message:
NOTE: This error message only occurs when you use the Run As feature of the MMC console.
CAUSE
This problem can occur because the system is not able to determine if the server name you typed is remote or local. A function in the Netapi32.dll file calls NetWkstaGetInfo at an infolevel that is too high, requiring the logged-on user to be an administrator of the local workstation for the request to succeed.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, note that in addition to appropriate remote permissions, the user who requires the ability to remotely share other computer's folders, requires local administrator rights for the computer that is in use.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 3.
