SYMPTOMS
When you are using animated mouse pointers in Windows 2000 with Terminal Services enabled, you may get receive the following error message on a blue screen when you log off:
CAUSE
This is a timing problem when you use animated mouse cursors on Windows 2000 with Terminal Server enabled. The problem is that the frames that make up the animated cursor are trying to be destroyed while they are still referenced by the mouse cursor. This can only occur when logging off from a remote client session.
RESOLUTION

STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 3.
