SYMPTOMS
When you attempt to check in a Microsoft Office document that was saved as a Web page to an enhanced folder, you receive following error message from SharePoint Portal Server:
If you choose to continue and check in your document, it is not displayed correctly in the dashboard site. Images and objects embedded in the Web page (but stored in separate files) are not displayed.
CAUSE
Office documents that are saved using the Save as a Web Page command from an Office program are called thickets
. Thickets consist of multiple linked files that together form the Web page.
SharePoint Portal Server 2001 does not support versioning of the thicket ancillary files. If you check in a thicket and then publish it, only the primary Web page is processed. The ancillary files are ignored.
WORKAROUND
To work around this issue, use one of the following methods.
Method 1
Save thickets in SharePoint Portal Server 2001 folders that do not having versioning enabled. These folders are typically referred to as "standard" folders, rather than enhanced folders.
Method 2
You can also use Microsoft Office 2000 Web Archive Add-on, which allows you to save a Web page as a single file using the MHTML standard. This allows you to save the files in SharePoint Portal Server 2001 enhanced folders.
