SUMMARY

If you try to install SharePoint Portal Server on a computer on which Microsoft SQL Server is installed, a message is displayed that indicates that you can upgrade Microsoft Search by modifying the registry as described in the release notes.

This message is not correct. There is no such information detailed in the SharePoint Portal Server release notes. The installation of SharePoint Portal Server and any version of SQL Server on the same computer is not supported in SharePoint Portal Server.



MORE INFORMATION

This message may also be displayed if you reinstall SharePoint Portal Server and you do not properly remove the initial installation.
