SYMPTOMS

When you click a Web link for an active stream redirector (.asx) file, the file is automatically downloaded to your computer's desktop and you are not prompted to change the location.

CAUSE

This behavior may occur because the .asx files are downloaded to the computer's hard drive in the default download location specified in the Internet settings in Control Panel.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, you can change the current location where these files are saved. This location is set in the browser settings. To change the default location, perform the following steps:

  1. Click Control Panel.
  2. Click Internet.
  3. Click Web.
  4. Change the download files setting to the location where you want the files saved.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
