SUMMARY
If you have not installed the SharePoint Portal Server client, do not use the Web folders that are provided with Microsoft Windows 2000 or Microsoft Office 2000 to gain access to a SharePoint Portal Server workspace. When you install the SharePoint Portal Server client, Web folders are updated with a version that can properly gain access to all of the SharePoint Portal Server features such as check-in, check-out, and so on. Without this update, the client cannot fully access the SharePoint Portal Server features, and returns unexpected results.
MORE INFORMATION
A Web folder is a shortcut to a Web server that is available in Windows Explorer and other Web folder-enabled applications such as Office 2000. Web folders make accessing and managing documents on a Web server as easy as accessing a file server.
