SYMPTOMS
When you work with the DataSourceControl (DSC) of an Office Web Component, you may specify a CommandTimeOut value for the Connection object. When you then build a query or RecordsetDef based on the Connection object, your CommandTimeOut value is ignored. The operation times out at the default value of 30 seconds.
RESOLUTION

STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Office 2000 Service Pack 2.
MORE INFORMATION
To temporarily work around this problem, set the CommandTimeOut property for individual Command objects rather than for the Connection object.
