FIX: Program Runs More Slowly After Migration from MTS on Windows NT 4.0 to COM+ on Windows 2000

SYMPTOMS

When you migrate a program from Microsoft Transaction Server (MTS) packages on Microsoft Windows NT version 4.0 to Microsoft COM+ components on Windows 2000, the program may consistently run much more slowly and may also require significantly more CPU resources.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because the CLSIDFromProgIdEx function runs more slowly on Windows 2000 than on Windows NT 4.0.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 2.
