SYMPTOMS
When you install Exchange, the following error message may be logged four times in the application event log:
CAUSE
This problem can occur during setup because Exchange installs new performance monitor counters. Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) detects a change and starts a process that loads every performance monitor counter dynamic-link library (DLL) to attempt to retrieve information from each performance monitor counter DLL. This event specifies that the Perfproc.dll file (a DLL that Microsoft Windows 2000 provides) has not responded in the time allowed.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server.
