SYMPTOMS
When you try to post an e-mail message to a moderated newsgroup that is hosted on a Microsoft Windows 2000-based computer, the posting may not succeed and you may receive the following error message:
This problem also occurs with Microsoft Exchange 2000 because it adds to the Windows 2000 Network News Transfer Protocol (NNTP) service.
CAUSE
An incorrect open mode for the article is being used, which causes a sharing violation.
RESOLUTION
A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem. This fix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Windows 2000 service pack that contains this hotfix.
